Built along the banks of the Phan Thiet River, the town has a colorful harbor full of boats and a quiet beach with long stretches of fine golden sand. To the east are the famous sand dunes of Mui Ne Beach, which stretch for more than 16 kilometers, providing excellent walking. The ancient temples of the Cham people, built during the 15th century, are located between Phan Thiet and Mui Ne cape. The Cham ethnic minority is one of the oldest ethnic groups in Vietnam and well known for their construction skills.
Fishing along side the Kega Lighthouse, constructed by the French in 1899, is a favorite pastime for locals and tourists alike as well as horse back riding along Phan Thiet’s beaches.
