This is a 26% increase from 2004 American Community Survey of 1,267,510 total Vietnamese-American populations in United States. The population of Vietnamese-American will continue to increase by double digit per year. Vietnamese-American median age of 34 years; however, 17% of the Vietnamese-American are at the age of retirement. The median household income for Vietnamese-American is $52,408 and the per capita income of $20,805 is higher than other race in the United States.
The younger generations of the Vietnamese-American population are well educated and often find themselves providing professional services. As the older generation tends to find difficulty in interacting with the non-Vietnamese professional class, there are many Vietnamese-Americans that provide specialized professional services to fellow Vietnamese immigrants. The Vietnamese-American believe in a strong family value that includes hard work, respect their elders, and advance in higher education. The statistic shows that Vietnamese-American has a higher percentage of Bachelor’s degrees than the rest of the nation population.
